St Patrick’s College Kimberley, South Africa

St. Patrick’s College, the first Christian Brother’s College in Africa is an independent school with a 112-year history. Individuals thrive in our small classes where our children are not only known by name but by nature, needs and talent.

It is in this intimate environment that your child will experience the lessons that lead to maturity. While we cannot predict nor control the future in which our children live we can equip them to succeed in an environment like none before.

RELIGIOUS ETHOS

· Children participate in RE programmes teaching high moral values.

· Prayer forms an important part of the school day, with Catholic Masses built into special school celebrations.

· Children from all faiths are represented at the school.

OUTREACH, CARING AND SHARING

· The ethos of the founder, Edmund Rice pervades. As he was compassionate so are we, taking part in a number of charity drives.

· Within the school, pupils and staff are taught to value others as created in the image of God. The Edmund Rice Society comprises volunteers who serve others in our community.

STRONG ACADEMICS

· A continual matric pass rate with a high exemption rate.

· The Independent Examinations Board exams have been benchmarked favourably with the best international systems.

· Through close monitoring systems and quick follow-up on weak areas, your child receives top quality academic teaching.

· An all-encompassing curriculum where subjects such as Drama and Computer Science are unique to the College.

STRONG LEADERSHIP TRAINING

· At College leadership skills are taught and experienced from an early age as the future belongs to those who can lead.

· With training for sport captains, the monitor system, the student leadership elections system (and accountability structure), the house leaders programme, your children receive both skills and experience in a host of positions.

1. The star is the symbol of light, guidance and instruction.

2. The Cross is a symbol of Christ.

3. The Circle is a symbol of eternity and eternal value.

4. The Open Book indicates that learning should be brought to the young. The A (Alpha) and (Omega) are a reminder that God is the “first and the last, the beginning and the end”, and that all knowledge begins and ends with Him.

5. The Motto, “Facere et Docere” which means “To Do and To Teach”, reminds the Christians Brothers that their lives and their actions, by word and example, are a way of leading others in Christ’s way.
